Liu, jiangbo@cs1.bradley.edu Associate Professor of Computer Science & Information Systems Prerequisites CS350 Computer Organization or equivalent Lecture 10:30-11:45am, Tu.,Thur., in BR33 Office Hours ============ Mon-Thurs 2:00-4:30pm in BR125b. Course Materials ================ o Required o Computer Architecture - A Quantitative Approach by John L. Hennessy and Davia A. Patterson Topic Schedule ============== The goals of this course are to give basic knowledge of computer systems at architecture level, the principles of structures and functions of the Von neumann computer systems, and some advanced computer architectures such as parallel computer, dataflow computer, and RISC. This is the typical hardware course for computer science majors. The prerequisite for this course is CS350 (computer organization), therefore I expect all of you have some knowledge about the computer system structures and digital logic circuits. Assignments =========== There will be three assignments, two on architecture design and one on assembly language programming (CISC and RISC). You are encouraged to help each other on the assignments, but you can not simply copy from each other. all assignments are due at the class on the due day. Later homework will have 10% substracted from the score for every late day. Grading ======= Communication ============= The public directory, /usr/public/liu in cs1, will be used to post assignments. You are also encouraged to send me email about your questions related to the course or share related information with the class.
