You may use computer software for any problem unless so noted.  Reports should be word processed.  Assignments may be submitted electronically.  Lab plans should identify tools, goals, roles, and/or methods as applicable; one to two pages.

Grading
Points may be earned as follows: 6 labs and lab plans - 2 points per plan, 13 points per lab.  Best 12 homework at 5 each.  Two exams at 50 points each.  This provides a 250 point total.  Grades will be 90-80-70-60 with a possible slight loosening of this scale.  Late work will, in general, not be accepted without prior written (e-mailed) agreement or a valid medical statement.  Neatness, grammar, spelling, and content will all count towards your grade - even on homework.  Any problem internal to a team should be discussed with the instructor as soon as a problem is noted; confidentiality will be honored as agreed to in such a meeting.

Objective
This course is meant to develop an appreciation of various IE techniques as applied in manufacturing and service industries.  Laboratories are used to provide an experiential approach to the problems of managing and planning such industries.  The place of people in these systems will be emphasized.

General
The schedule and procedures in this syllabus are subject to change in the event of extenuating circumstances.  Any student with difficulty in meeting these requirements should contact the instructor as soon as possible for an attempt to resolve the difficulty.  This especially includes class dates the student will be unavailable.  All students are expected to participate in all classes and labs.  Absense from lab will reduce your grade on that lab.  All students are expected to meet the published pre-requisites of the course PRIOR tothe first day of class.  If you have not, contact your advisor immediately.

Laboratories and Projects
Detailed laboratory requirements are available on-line; it is the students responsibility to obtain copies as needed.  These will be found at IME 383 resources  . Labs 1, 3, 4, & 6 will be held in Morgan 306.  Lab 2 will be in Morgan 1; Lab 5 in Morgan 307.
